Still, precious still

Initiated into silence,
back then.
Tip-toeing through turbulence,
so unnecessarily apologetic.
Regularly rapidly retreating,
prefaced with endless pauses,
and squashed interludes.
Pages hastily flipped through.
Too quickly glanced over.

But then the night came;
terms of reference revisited,
Ts and Cs now large print.
Not so easily cast aside.
Blank pages to be filled,
ink not about to run dry.
You found your voice,
resounding in the still.
Silence shattered,
like broken glass.

Rising waves surf crescendo,
in wisdom you know to step back.
Powerful echoes surface.
Reflections rip reality,
on how unabating drama,
whirled you into traUma.
Enveloping your lines,
taken down miles.
Eventually you surfaced,
a little off center.
The load drained you,
barely recognizable.

But you chose to trust,
and let go.
Surrender stepped in,
holding you,
with lightness of being.
Calm reassurance,
as you followed.

Now intentionally,
journeying in silence.
Curiously your voice,
projects a different tune,
composed of whispered wisdoms,
drawn from the desert oasis.
Deeply grounded,
sustaining life.
Presence so strong.
