Our Amazon Alexa Developers Community-LPU
Amazon Alexa Developer Comunity-LPU is inspired by Amazon Alexa (Smart personal assistant by Amazon). It is run by an official amazon student Influencer and we organize Alexa skills workshop in which we help people to understand the concept of Alexa skills and it’s basic fundamentals and guide them in building high-quality Alexa skills.
Launched on the 7th of October, 2018 with its first workshop organized by Aditya Channe, Kiran Rajput, Rushikesh Chandgude, and Tanya Singh. Since then we have organized more than 50 workshops in and outside LPU.
After the first workshop, Aditya Channe was chosen as the Amazon Alexa Student Influencer and Kiran Rajput as the Technical Head for Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar who led AADC — LPU till mid-2020.
At the beginning of 2019, we hosted a workshop in which students of LPU were given a chance to experience a hands-on session on Alexa by Mr. Sohan Maheshwar (Ex-Alexa Solution Evangelist) and Mr. Ankit Kala (Ex-Alexa Solution Architect).
Around mid-April of 2019, we hosted the Amazon Alexa Student Day with more than 1500 participants from CSE, ECE/EEE, and Computer Applications department. The Keynote Speech was delivered by Mr. Haza Sheriff (Lead — Business Development India for Amazon Alexa). There was a Panel Discussion on the topic — “Conversational AI: Impact on Industry and Education” among Mr. Haza Sheriff, Mr. Sohan Maheshwar, Ms. Osheen Chavhan, Mr. Tom George, Mr. Karthik Ragubathy with our ASI Aditya Channe.
For our great effort throughout the year, our ASI Mr. Aditya Channe was awarded the Alexa Student Influencer of the Year, and AADC — LPU was awarded the title of the Best Student Developers Community at the Amazon Alexa Voxcon 2019 held in Delhi.
For the session 2019–2020, we organized a Recruitment drive for the core team of AADC — LPU and chose a total of 13 students from the 1st and the 2nd year. The drive comprised of a total of 3 rounds, the first one being the Group Discussion or GD, the second one being the Technical Interview, and the final one was an HR-based interview.
Throughout the year we organized events and workshops for students to learn all about Alexa in LPU as well as other institutes. AADC — LPU was invited to G. H Raisoni College of Engineering (Nagpur), DAV University (Jalandhar), GNA University (Phagwara), Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (Patiala), Dr. B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (Jalandhar), and many more.
Recently the position of The Amazon Alexa Student Influencer was passed on from Mr. Aditya Channe to Mr. Shashank Pokala of Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar who will lead our AADC — LPU from 2020 to 2021 with the help of the Technical Head Mr. Yogesh Nimangre.
