This is my experiment to create a glass-on-glass mosaic using curved tesserae of tumbled glass onto a glass vase. The pieces were required to match the curvature of the vase at its placement point. I wanted the piece to suggest currents of water flowing around the vase’s circumference — blue water flowing around islands of pink and gold.
The mosaic is non-grouted — the idea that illuminating the vase from the interior transform the vase into a Tiffany-like stained glass work.
Glass pieces purchased from Bedrock Industries of Seattle, taken from a special run of tumbled glass derived from pastel-colored tea sets.
