Artist, friends, neighbors. He, a visual artist, illustrator. She plays harp. Married on a spring day in 2008 at a Japanese garden on the south side of Seattle. Rhodendrons in bloom.
I studied the photos I’d taken for how to shade clothing — to give it texture and depth. A white dress is not white, nor is a brown suit brown. And how to depict a blue transparent veil that shimmers in the sunlight? This piece took many attempts to capture, but I learned a lot from this painting.
I gave the finished piece to Monica and Steven.
