Cryptocurrency market analysis with Grafana
In this article, we will demonstrate how we made use of Grafana and Algologic Timeseries Server to build advanced and customized trading dashboards.
Grafana is an open-source tool for real-time data analytics. Connecting it to Algologic Timeseries Server, we are able to supply quantitative analysts and traders with a powerful real-time data analytics tool. Grafana is the right tool for market data exploration and visualization. It gives you full control of your analysis without the need to write any code. Algologic Timeseries Server gives you a high performance data solution that feeds Grafana.
The picture below shows a screenshot of Grafana where several crypto currency assets are tracked in real time. In this example, you see the price of the coins on the left and their volatility on the right hand side. Using Algologic Timeseries Server the historical prices are updated in real-time on the charts.
New coins can be easily added or removed from this dashboard and the chart type (lines or dots) can be easily modified. Below you see an example of Grafana’s configuration screen. For example, we can change the coin we are visualizing and the level of data aggregation (e.g. 1m, 5m, …).
See below how we changed from babusd to ethusd, and increased the aggregation to 10m.

Notice that this is possible because we connect to Algologic Timeseries Server, which contains all financial historical data loaded and it is updated in real-time.
Algologic Timeseries Server also contains social media and news signals that can be directly plotted on Grafana. Below you see an example of the ETC price charts and the Tweets about ETC. Notice the spikes on Tweets when the market received the news ETC suffered a 51% attack.
