Decipher 2022 is the second annual gathering of builders, founders, investors, and strategists growing and deciphering the future on Algorand. And it’s just around the corner!

Decipher will be held from Nov. 28 to 30 in Dubai (you can watch from home as well!) and will feature a variety of keynote speakers and panels from the Algorand ecosystem and beyond. It’s a chance to learn about everything going on in the Algorand ecosystem, and get insight from some of the top experts in the field. While we’re thrilled to see every single one of the speakers, here are just a few we want to highlight today:

Jon Vlassopulos, CEO, Napster

Delivering Web2 to Web3

Jon Vlassopulos has worked in media, tech, and advertising for more than 20 years, recently being named the CEO of Napster. The decades-old music service has taken a headfirst dive into the world of Web3, and expect this transition to be discussed during the panel. It will focus on how the transition of Web2 services to Web3 can be executed in a smooth and efficient manner, how business leaders can think about the world of Web3, and what the Web3 means for the future of technology.

Benjamin Ampen, CEO, Kraken MENA

Building the Next Crypto Capital

Earlier this year, the crown prince of Dubai announced a metaverse strategy projected to add 40,000 jobs and $4 billion to the economy in the next five years. This is just one of the many crypto related announcements to recently come out of the Middle East. Benjamin Ampen is in charge of growing Kraken’s business in the UAE and surrounding areas. He previously served as managing director for Twitter in the Middle East & North Africa, along with being an integral part of Google’s business development team across the UK and EMEA. With his expertise in international business management and development, he will surely have some insightful and interesting topics to speak on in regard to spreading crypto technology across the UAE, Middle East and North Africa.

Michael Carpentier, CEO & Co-Founder, Vesta Equity

The World On Chain: Digitizing Real World Assets

Michael Carpentier has two and a half decades working with and building digitally focused companies. Carpentier is a CIO Certified Blockchain Professional. He is also an amateur competitive OCR & ultra-marathon racer. Vesta Equity is a real estate platform, operating on the Algorand blockchain, that creates an open global marketplace for property owners and investors. Carpentier has built companies from the ground up, and is knowledgeable in many facets of business, management, investing, and more. We’re looking forward to his contribution to the Digitizing Real World Assets panel.

Eva Kaili, VP, European Parliament

“An Unstoppable Technology:” Privacy, Safety, & Blockchain’s Role in the Future of Finance

Eva Kaili in January 2022 was elected Vice-President of the European Parliament. She is the first woman to have chaired the STOA Panel and the Centre for Artificial Intelligence. Kaili has worked on promoting innovation as a driving force of the European Digital Single Market. She has been the draftsperson of legislation on topics including blockchain, fintech, AI, and cybersecurity. Given her experience, Kaili will have great insight into the role blockchain will play in the future of finance.

Claudio Parrinello, CEO and Co-Founder, PlanetWatch

Greener, Safer, & More Prosperous: How Blockchain Is Delivering on “Smart Cities”

Claudio Parrinello holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics. He is a former research physicist, international consultant and manager at CERN, Geneva. In 2016, Parrinello started getting involved in the blockchain ecosystem. In 2017, he led a project delivering the first NFT standard for the EOS blockchain. In 2019, he started working on PlanetWatch, which is building a global decentralized environmental data ecosystem by leveraging Web3 technologies and communities. We’re excited to see how he will bring his combined scientific and blockchain knowledge to this panel to discuss the future of “Smart Cities.”

Ortal Tevel has been working in the world of fintech for more than 20 years. One of her main passions is creating the cities of the future. With her vast software knowledge and expertise, she works avidly on creating local currencies and creating sustainable growth that residents can take part in. She is passionate about the cities of the future, and will undoubtedly do a great job explaining how blockchain is delivering on the promise of “Smart Cities.”

Coy Garrison, Partner, Steptoe & Johnson LLP

We Won’t Get Fooled Again: Where Crypto Goes From Here

Coy Garrison is a former counsel at SEC and has helped craft a number of crypto policy positions. Drawing on more than eight years of experience at the SEC and his technical understanding of federal securities laws, he provides unique insights to clients on the securities law implications of their business plans. Garrison previously served as counsel to SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce and to former Director of the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance Bill Hinman. During this time he advised Peirce on every crypto enforcement matter. This ample experience with crypto regulation and securities laws will make for a great panel, as he will surely provide some much needed insight into where crypto goes from here.

Mona Hamdy, Chief Strategy Officer, Sino Global Capital

Venture Perspectives Across the Crypto Landscape

Mona Hamdy is the Chief Strategy Officer for Sino Global Capital, a global venture capital firm specializing in digital assets and blockchain. She is a PhD candidate and teaching fellow in Applied Ethics at Harvard. Hamdy’s active board memberships focus on technology, education, and culture in social development and poverty eradication. They include: Global Blockchain Business Council, XPrize AI for Good, Bretton Woods Committee, World Bank SDG1 Special Council, UN Global Council on Poverty Eradication, Center for Democracy and Technology, and the Harvard 3D: Women in Defense, Diplomacy and Development. With this impressive resume, and her extensive blockchain, investing, and fundraising knowledge, Hamdy will be a great addition to this panel.

Victor Mapunga, Co-Founder & CEO, FlexFinTX

Financial Inclusion at Scale: A World Tour

Victor Mapunga is Co-Founder and CEO of FlexFinTx, creators of FlexID, a digital identity wallet that aims to unlock access to financial, insurance, healthcare and government services to more than 400 million Africans. Mapunga is also co-founder of Mutapa, one of Zimbabwe’s fastest growing ecommerce and fintech startups, serving hundreds of merchants and empowering businesses to expand their markets through a global marketplace. With his emphasis on emerging markets and the role of investment in the developing world, Mapunga should provide invaluable insight into how we can create a blockchain-powered, inclusive financial future.

Marcus Feistl, COO, LimeWire

Creativity Meets Utility: Tools for the Metaverse

Marcus Feistl has previously worked as the Country Manager D/A/CH at Bitpanda, where he managed the largest market of Europe’s leading crypto broker. Additionally, he has experience as a management consultant at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) with a focus on digitization projects. LimeWire is an open music and entertainment NFT marketplace that allows for artists to connect with fans. It aims to eliminate the confusion often associated with purchasing NFTs and introduces purchasing options that are more available to the average consumer. On this panel, Fesitl, along with other Web3 creators, will get in depth on how leaders are building and facilitating community engagement in the Web3 space.
