Temple near Hollywood

It is a $100 million Hindu temple recently built near Hollywood in Los Angeles.

I was struck by its exquisite beauty and architectual marvel when I visited recently. It stands majestically amidst the Chino Hills as a true example of Hindu architecture.

A lot of tourists in this part of LA are now marking it as part of their itinerary. And why not one is simply awed by it when face to face with this structure in stone.

It has been built by 35,000 pieces of meticulously hand-carved Italian marble called Carrara and Indian pink sandstone. These were shipped to the US and assembled like a giant three-D jigsaw puzzle. Majority of this is the sweat and hard work of skilled craftmen from Gujarat and Rajasthan. They came in batches and worked through the harsh winter.

Interestingly, the temple authorities claim it to be the first earthquake proof temple in the world and is expected to last for a thousand years.
