There are stories that strike us like lightning, shaking us so deeply that we can never look at the world the same way again. The testimony of this 31-year-old autistic sex worker was one of those stories.

What if everything we thought we knew about autism was wrong?

Her story begins like many others: struggling to keep a job at 20, feeling out of place in a world that seemed to work for everyone but her.

The frustration of trying to fit into a 9-to-5 system led her to seek alternatives. That’s when she discovered sex work — not as a last resort, but as a solution that, surprisingly, perfectly suited her way of being.

“The less I masked, the happier I became.” This revelation came during the pandemic when forced isolation freed her from the constant need to “perform normality.”

Alone, without the pressure to meet social expectations, she began to recognize patterns that had always been there: the exhaustion after social interactions, the intensity of her sensations, the different way she processed the world.

Her routine as an escort proved surprisingly comfortable.
