Mute Swan

A close encounter

This series is from a brief encounter with a pair of Mute Swans at Parvins State Park in Pittsgrove Township. The reason for the close encounter seemed to be the defending of the nest area. As the swan approached I was mildly concerned as I know they tend to be aggressive but it seemed to just want to let its presence be known. I stayed in one spot and moved slowly and only heard the slightest hissing at which point I backed away and let them be. It was really fun to watch this beautiful bird as such close range and even more interesting to watch the behavior. I hope you enjoy the series.
