August Earnings and Top Stories
Because who doesn’t love to be a little nosey!
I’ve noticed Marcus Musick publishes his monthly earnings and it’s consistently one of his best performing stories. In the interests of having more of my own stories do well, I’ve been pondering doing the same.
It’s a dilemma because revealing Medium earnings can come across as either bragging or complaining, but I intend to do neither. I don’t want to make people who earn $1.22 feel bad. Or to make you think I’m unhappy here, despite earning a decent crust, even if the hourly rate is pitiful. But I do want to have another story that earns well on my timeline, so let’s experiment and see.
I have already declared my earnings for August, but most people missed it because it was in the story about Medium’s cock up over the $10 payout threshold. It broke the silence, so let’s go…
In recent months, my Medium earnings have been pretty average for someone who publishes every day, after being here three+ years.
I’ve got just over 7000 followers, but most are bots and inactives, which means I probably have maybe 100 regular readers. They certainly don’t read everything. Some stories only get a handful of reads, and some earn less than a dollar.
