Don’t Add People to Substack Without Their Permission
Where are your manners?
There seems to be an emerging trend on Medium for people to add others to their Substack emailing list, without asking permission.
First it was Dr Mehmet, owner of Illumination Publications. Then other writers did the same, and I don’t know how some of them got my email address! Illumination has my email address because I contribute to Illumination occasionally and provided my email address when I applied to be added as a writer.
But I deliberately don’t subscribe to anyone on Medium or Substack because I don’t want my email box cluttered up. So I promptly unsubscribe to writers who add me to their newsletter without my permission.
Admittedly, Dr Mehmet’s first post did inspire this one, so it wasn’t completely unwelcome, but it’s polite to ask before adding people to your mailing list!
