Frank woke up in a good mood. His cat didn’t TP his apartment. He only got woken up twice — once by his neighbor, once by the garbage truck.

It was a public holiday and so he had the day off. He would go clothes shopping as his partner told him he’s been wearing the same thing on too many days. He would start at a place called Mack’s Trendy Tops.

Frank didn’t have to look very long when he spotted a t-shirt with a winning slogan he could identify with. It was a sky-blue t-shirt with the following words stencilled large across it —

I ❤️ Writing

Frank, not usually sentimental, fell in love with it. He checked the size — medium. He checked the price — $150. He asked the guy behind the counter about durability. He said it should last about one year, adding —

At which point, you will have to buy another t-shirt for $150 that will last you another year.

Frank asked if there were any other perks for such a steep price. The guy behind the counter said —

Yes, you will instantly become a Friend of Mack’s loyalty member. After buying five ‘I ❤️ Writing’ t-shirts you will get your sixth t-shirt for half-price.
