I Know It’s Right
Every day I think the same things, cover the same issues in my head over and over. So many times I’ve come to a resolution, and then off we go again to get lost in alternate karaoke
Usually when a song starts writing itself, I’ve been thinking about writing it for a bit. This one kind of popped into my head and poured right out all at once.
It’s not like I haven’t been thinking about the subject matter, though. A lot of people are deeply worried/angered/betrayed/different negative verbed where this is concerned.
So maybe with all the bad juju about, it would be a good idea if we let ourselves jump right into my protest song! (I did say it was a protest song, didn’t I?)
So this alternate karaoke was co written with the amazing Joni Mitchell and her wonderful song, “Big Yellow Taxi.”
Joni Mitchell write “Big Yellow Taxi” in 1970 on a trip to Hawaii, and yes there were trees and parking lots involved. The earliest recording is on the album Ladies of the Canyon, which hit the charts in Canada, the UK, Australia, and the U.S. Since it’s release, several other artists have covered “Big Yellow Taxi” but never getting close to the Joni Mitchell…
