Unpacking my new iPad Air at my father’s home in Salamis Isle. That’s the isle around which the famous naval battle between the Greeks and the invading Persians took place, in 480 BC. When a far smaller Greek navy dominated the superior Persian navy with smart tactics and strategy.

If you see a paywall either join Medium or click here to access the full story.

I started writing this piece on my sparkling new iPad Air, but I will need to edit it in the HP AMD Ryzen 5700U Win11 laptop I plan to retire – actually bid on eBay, along with some extra goodies like my Wacom Intuos drawing tablet, a wireless mouse and a mechanical keyboard added as a bonus.

Why? Because while the Medium app is greatly optimised for reading, it sucks stale sweaty balls for writing. Bear in mind I do not use the Medium app to write this. I use Firefox. Nevertheless if I try to check my stories or settings of the story (SEO, licensing etc) FF -or the iPad, not sure- obnoxiously calls the Medium app every single time…

Testing the fluidity of my drawing on my iPad. That hyper-excited guy on the left is God Pan, don’t mind him. I have no idea how he entered the frame. Show off… Image license: CC BY-NC-SA 4.0

Neither Firefox nor the app can render single space lines for poetry, show private notes from editors, or even support captions for header images – I could also not find an Alt option for descriptive text for images.
