Medium: Please Show Us When A Story is Scheduled

I’m an impatient mule. I like my work to be published quickly. So, I’ve occasionally removed my draft stories from publications, because I was fed up of waiting and being ignored. Only then, did I discover that some of those stories were scheduled to publish shortly — I wished I’d known!

Some editors don’t communicate, so Medium needs to. I don’t want to pull my story from a publication if it’s about to be published. But I do want to see the bloody thing published within a reasonable timescale, preferably while I’m still alive.

There is no way of knowing what is going on until a writer pulls their story from a publication. It’s only when you remove it that you find out it’s been scheduled. By then, it’s too late.

If you resubmit, you join the back of the queue and have to wait for it to be scheduled again. This might take days or weeks. Or it might not happen at all.

I hate being kept in the dark. I think editors should communicate — and preferably give us a time zone, because your 8pm and my 8pm might be 24 hours apart!

But when they don’t communicate, and they don’t publish, we’re left in a frustrating state of limbo, which leaves me feeling frustrated. I like to publish regularly, at…
