Medium: Why I Added ‘MBA’ Then Deleted It

I got all fired up to take Medium more seriously when we got back from doing up a house last summer. With a little more time on my hands, I wanted to make Medium fly.

I was going to work my butt off, get boosted, reapply to become a boost nominator, succeed, and make Medium a serious part of my freelance work and income. I was fired up. Taking this seriously.

I added MBA to my name, to make me look like an expert in something — I do have an MBA, but don’t really consider myself an expert in anything. However, it looks good to anyone who cares about such things.

I worked my butt off on Medium, retrieved some of my most suitable magazine articles, updated them and made them good for the Medium audience. I revised them to include more about me, as is required by the boost program (according to some nominators anyway).

I also published the first chapter of my memoir, some vulnerable stuff, some stuff specially written for boost because others had done well covering the same topics. Some of it, I was nervous about publishing. Vulnerability can be challenging, especially if horrible people turn up in the comments.
