Oops! They Broke the Alerts
Someone call Medium emergency services! Except they won’t get the message…
Anyone else still getting radio silence on the alerts front? Or not complete silence, but just a faint radar blip every now and then, limping into their inbox like a carrier pigeon with a broken wing (and a mixed metaphor), saying ‘User Blah-Blah highlighted your post 19 hours ago’?
I’ve seen a couple of other people mention it, so it’s not just me. And they’ve clearly been doing their ‘dumb cop in a china shop’ act again, banning Zivah Avraham for a couple of days — now reinstated, but presumably some users who were culled are still trying to get back into the system.
So putting 2 and 2 together (and perhaps ending up with 5, but since there is no word via official channels — surprise, surprise!!), let’s assume that they are trying to have another clearout of bots and spammers, in the Merry Month of AI Ban May.
If they are successful, great. But there seems to be a fair amount of collateral damage so far.
If everyone sees that comment alerts aren’t working, they are less likely to leave a comment (duh!), since they are shitting in the woods with no one to hear…
