I recently read a post in which the writer advised everyone on the platform to read 5 Medium posts a day.
Are you kidding me?
I read 5 Medium posts before breakfast.
Her story was aimed at the writers who drop their links and run, without reading your story. The folks who post their own work but never read ours.
In other words?
Non-reciprocal Medium Scum.
The point of her post was to attempt to educate these folks about the value of reciprocity.
Good luck with that.
But what stopped me was her advice that a good Medium citizen should make sure to read 5 posts a day.
I think that’s setting the reciprocity bar very low.
On most days, I end up reading between 30 and 50 Medium posts.
Of course, if you make a habit of reading 15-minute posts, 5 posts a day is a respectable number.
One of the reasons I’m able to cover so much Medium ground is that I eschew long posts. I prefer to stay in the 2–5 minute range.
