AGELESS FETA

Tiptoeing Around The Elephant

Trying to find my way out of the tedium

Why walk normally when we can tiptoe? / Photo by Nam Anh on Unsplash

I was gassed after a full plate of tots. Seven one hour tutoring sessions to be exact. That’s a lot of talking.

So I did what any exhausted tutor might do after a full day of teaching fractions and idioms —

I pulled up my laptop to write on my favorite secret platform.

My partner and I live in a small one bedroom apartment where the living room triples as the kitchen and study. So as I typed away my partner inevitably hovered over me in the kitchen as she fixed herself something to eat.

While my partner poked the bear, I tiptoed around the elephant.

Here was the essence of our dialogue

What are you writing?

Nothing. Just stream-of-consciousness nonsense.

For who?

I can’t mention that.

What can’t you mention?

I can’t mention the name of the platform. Not if I want to get paid for my work.

You get paid for your work?
