I asked Tony Stubblebine a question on a Medium story yesterday and he responded with an explanation for our earnings drop that actually makes sense. This is what I asked…

Hi Tony, What I’d like to know, is if I stop talking to people, will my pay go back up? I know one guy outside this bubble who says he and his contacts are unaffected. So, I know there are some people still earning on here. What do I need to do to be one of them? That’s what I am wondering. :) Thank you sir.

Good question. No, you won’t be dinged for talking to people.

It’s more that you are in a section of Medium readers that isn’t paying as much as it used to and/or that the engagement you got back is now paying much less. Writing that breaks out of this section of readers/engagement is paying what it used to. That’s what the guy you talked to is experiencing (along with his contacts).
