We’ve all seen it by now.

We’ve been waiting and waiting for an official explanation on why the plug has been pulled on everyone’s earnings.

Instead, just yesterday, we all received Medium’s official chastisement of writers who they believe are behaving in a less than human fashion when commenting on each other’s work.

In the official email that went out, the message ran as follows:

Screenshot of Medium’s ‘handy’ new acronym. Handy indeed!

This very belated email comes in the context of all writers being paid pennies for their work for most of January.

Does it at all seem strange to you that Medium claims it doesn’t know what it’s doing? That it has no idea why earnings have hit zero for ten days running? That it must “investigate to understand” their own “changes to earning calculations”?

Well, you’re not alone. I have concluded that their shiny new ‘H.U.M.A.N.’ acronym can only be code for something else.
