Writing On This Platform Is My Gambling Problem

Hi. My name is Citizen Reader, and I have a gambling problem.

No, I don’t bet on sports. I don’t spend my paycheck on lottery tickets (I don’t know how to, and I’m too shy to ask the convenience store workers how to do it). I don’t go to Vegas, or bet on horse races.

I chase the boost here.

Look, I’m a writer.

I don’t make a living at it, but I supplement our living with any and all writing jobs I can do. You name it, I’ve done it. Proofreading, copyediting, back-of-the-book indexing, writing reference books for librarians, content writing, self-publishing, journalism, writing kids’ reference books.

On bad days I think I’ve done all that simply so I can sit at my computer in my own house and plausibly call whatever I’m doing “work.”

This all went fine until I stumbled onto this platform.

I really enjoy it here. I can write on a wide variety of topics, the interface is easy to use, the comments sections are surprisingly civilized. Sometimes, I even make some okay money.

So, what’s the problem?
