Scribner and Netgalley provided me with a copy of Diary of a Tuscan Bookshop for review:

Having worked as a book publicist in Italy, Alba Donati was used to a busy schedule and had met numerous international authors, but she was ready to make a change. She decided to return to Lucignana, the small Tuscan village where she was born, one day. On a hillside surrounded by rose and peony gardens, she opened a tiny but enchanting bookshop.

Alba’s shop seemed unlikely to succeed with fewer than 200 year-round residents, but it soon attracted book lovers across Italy and nearby. Having survived a fire and pandemic restrictions, the “Bookshop on the Hill” became a destination for a growing community. Locals took pride in the bookshop, from Alba’s centenarian mother to her childhood friends and the many volunteers who help run it on a daily basis. Within a short time, it has become a literary destination for devoted readers, who come from all over to browse, enjoy a cup of tea, and find comfort in the knowledge that Alba will find the perfect book for them.

In this unique and inspiring book, Alba’s lifelong love of literature shines through. .This inspirational story celebrates reading, book lovers, and booksellers, the unsung heroes of the literary world, in the format of diary entries.

I give Diary of a Tuscan Bookshop five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!
