151219 All-Day Breakfast — ART, am i right?—#65

It is mesmerizing to sketch on the iPad Pro using the Apple Pencil. It feels like the real thing. It actually feels like drawing. I create All-Day Breakfast on a 4th generation iPad from 2012. It’s fine. It’s slowing down, but it still does what I want it to do. HOWEVER mow that i’ve used the Pro I’m going to think about it every day. My guess is I can hold off until the next model is released and the Pencil works with a smaller model. I still cannot do everything I need to do on an iPad, and therefore lug my computer around , as well as my phone. That’s too much stuff. And no, I won’t consider a Surface so don’t even go there. It’s interesting how sometimes the tool compells the art. I don’t think I would create ADB on something else, at least not in its current form. If I lost or broke this device I’d be SOL. For a bit. Then I’d try something else. Or ADB would die. ART, am i right?

I know that with a tool that ignites you, you never want to put it down. It’s like my son and Minecraft—a world-building tool that’s engrossing, immersive. I love the intimacy of the iPad. I like having so many tools and options without the mess of pencils + paints. I would have practiced HOURS more piano if I had had a synthesizer because I would have tried every song with every possible sound. Get to know your brain and what compels it. Now shape your life passion to work with your compulsions, not against them. That’s part of my strategy to fight inertia and gain creative momentum. :-D
