When did everything become a war? When I was a kid, it was Conservatives and Liberals. It was Republicans and Democrats. That’s what made up the political landscape. They were called people with different opinions, not enemies.


They might argue with each other at a dinner party, but they wouldn’t draw weapons, and they most certainly wouldn’t draw blood. Somehow they could respect each other as necessary parts of society, as yin and yang, as salt and pepper.
