Oil on asphalt

160316 All-Day Breakfast—Oil on asphalt—#153

Who says oil and water don’t mix?

Yesterday it was grey and rainy. As I was hastening to work, head down, I hopped over this pothole. The image struck me and an immediate dilemma arose: should I stop, in the rain, in front of passersby, and take a picture of a puddle? It took two more strides to decide. I turned back and captured this surreal image of oil flowing over asphalt in melting rainbows of vibrant colour.

Two things:

  1. The best camera is the one that you have with you but also use.
  2. Stop and smell the potholes.
Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. —Ferris Bueller
