What does ADB-160322#159 mean?

Thanks, Leah, for asking about the cryptic subtitle’s on every All-Day Breakfast post.

These strange alpha-numerics, found beneath each title of All-Day Breakfast, are a stardate-like numbering system for each individual issue.

Let me break it down.

Albrecht Dürer’s monogram

ADB-

This is short for All-Day Breakfast (although the dash has been moved). On the newer cover images, you will usually find a symbol that is a total rip-off of Albrecht Dürer’s initials, with a ‘B’ added inside the ‘D’.

160322

This is the date. But it’s written in European formatting (YYMMDD). In America, it would be written as 032216, or March 3rd, 2016 (MMDDYY). I like putting the year first because it will sort chronologically in a long list. On the cover image you will always find this scribble in the top left corner:

160322= 2016, March 22

#159

This is the issue number. I publish All-Day Breakfast every single day, and have for the last one hundred and fifty-nine days. Lately, I have taken to writing it above the ADB monogram on the cover images (see above for example).

I hope this answers your question in a thorough and obsessive fashion.

Cheers,
