Mothers Are the Only Ones Who Genuinely Love Us

About the greatest love of all

There are good mothers and bad mothers. I’ve seen a lot of both.

But I consider that bad mothers are not really mothers, so they are automatically excluded from that title.

As for real mothers, the good ones, if we have ever experienced genuine love and interest, only came from them. As children, and even later, we don’t appreciate this love, which is revealed in the attention they give us, even in things that may seem insignificant to others.

It’s a realization that comes late when no one listens to us in the same way or remotely cares about what we have to say. A mother’s love is almost inexplicable, so different from romantic love, that they try to make us believe it is the greatest of all.

It was a tremendous lie. Mothers are the best we can have in our lives; it’s true love. Mothers are the only beings who really listen to us, not only with their ears but with their whole being.

Mothers are the only beings who know us better than we know ourselves, making us reveal our identities, sometimes even those unknown to us.

If something troubles us, be it physical or psychological pain, mothers suffer with us, and sometimes even more.
