through the looking glass she sees, a fractured reflection

as she wants to be perceived, her image shredding

face first in the blur of two double-stacked lenses:

both clouded, as if in time, sedimented

·

the gaze of prospective partners

under her own gaze cast

oversight on both parts

each plays a role to match

·

who do they become

while searching for each other?

what identities do we shed

on the hunt for a lover?

·

surveilling ourselves through

the eyes of the othered; a-b

testing displays to find the

perfect ‘for us’ partner

·

what is it about being alone, that

drives your heart away from home

& right into the arms of another?
