Where’d I go?
Hi everyone, I’m sure you all thought I fell off of the face of the Earth… I didn’t, instead, I became a busy worker-bee and hunkered down on this new job I’ve started (I’m a student finance advisor 🎉). I’ve loved it, but I’ve also missed writing here.
I’m sure you’re wondering why I couldn’t just do both, but, getting used to a 40+ hour week after not working for 7 months after recovering from developing a chronic illness isn’t the easiest. I ended up stopping a lot of my hobbies (obviously writing here, practicing my music, and reading as much) and neglecting a lot of my responsibilities (I don’t want to talk about my college classes pretty please). I work from home, remotely, and that helps, but it still does take a large amount of my energy to mentally focus while sitting in the same chair for 9ish hours a day.
One of the biggest goals I have going into 2024 is spending more time on ME! Though I’m exhausted at the end of the day there is always time for me to do something that makes me happy. One of the switches I’ve made includes swapping my morning scrolling on TikTok to reading (I started Dune — Frank Herbert). So here I am, one of the ways that I love to spend time with myself is by writing; especially here on Medium!
I’d love to take the rest of this post to briefly discuss the goals I’ve laid out in detail for myself this year and maybe some of the action points/plans I have for them. There are 7!

By setting goals for ourselves, we can focus our attention on the important things that we want/need to accomplish within the day/week/month/year/lifetime. By setting an action plan along with the goal, we can map out the journey that it will take to get to our “desired result”.
1. Journaling
My first long-term goal of the year is Journaling. While journaling is something that I’ve done a lot of in my life and have had moments of…
