Hello — 12 Months Later
How have my Chronic Illnesses affected this past year?
My last post was May 25th, 2024. So hello, over a year later. This last 12 months have been hard on me; I have been having many health problems that have caused me to miss work (currently on LOA), lose motivation (especially here on my blog), and stay home every single day.
I feel as though I have missed a large portion of my 20’s, which most say are the happiest years of your life. I am going to be 24 this year and I’ve been stuck in bed this whole time. Either that or going to doctors appointments, testing, monitors, and physical therapy.
I am seeing quite a few doctors at this point; my primary (of course, he keeps everything rounded together), my neurologist (I actually have two, one for migraines and one for my seizures), my cardiologist (for my heart), a gastroenterologist, specialists for ‘not very well researched’ conditions, my OBGYN (which is such an awful office with rude staff, but it’s the only clinic in my area), and my rheumatologist.
So what illnesses are they? I’ll go over simple definitions with each.
POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome): This is a syndrome in which my posture (standing, sitting, laying down) affects the speed of my heart rate; standing up = faster, laying down = slower.
