With stars like Fernando Tatis Jr. falling victim to his own vices, as well as someone like Shohei Ohtani who seems doomed for mediocrity as long as he stays with the Los Angeles Angels, Julio Rodriguez seems set to become one of the premier attractions to the future of the MLB. This has been made evident by his recent contract extension that includes $210 million guaranteed over almost the next decade and a half.

Julio Rodriguez was named to the All-Star team in just his rookie season, which he has followed by maintaining a .268/.328/.471 split, 20 home-runs, 64 RBIs and 23 stolen bases in 108 games. The Seattle Mariners are also 68–57, so it would be certainly impressive to see Rodriguez’s playoff debut in the same year as his MLB debut. Rodriguez’s speed, batting power, and youthful exuberance should make for entertaining baseball for years to come.
