~The Lion King

This movie is about a young lion cub, Simba who runs away from his responsibilities as king because he thinks he killed his father when it actually was his uncle, Scar. Simba grows up and comes back to his village when he realizes they have no food and water. He defeats Scar and becomes one of the greatest kings his village has seen. He comes The Lion King was first released in 1994 and is a well know Disney movie. It is scheduled to release a live action in July of 2019. This release will mark the 25th anniversary of the original film. It will star Donald Glover as Simba and James Earl Jones will return as Mufasa.

~Aladdin

This movie is about a poor boy named Aladdin who lives on the streets with his monkey, Abu. Aladdin falls in love with a princess. He finds a lamp in The Cave of Wonders and a magical Genie appears. Aladdin wishes to become a prince but an evil sorcerer named Jafar wants to marry Jasmine and steals the lamp and Genie but Aladdin tricks him into turning into a Genie and destroys him. Aladdin and Jasmine live happily ever after. This movie was first released in 1992 and the new live action film is planned to be released in may of 2019. This film stars Naomi Scott as Jasmine, Will Smith as the Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Marwan Kenzari as Jafar.

~Jungle Book

The Jungle Book is about an abandoned boy who is raised by wolves. He becomes faced with death by a man eating tiger and must return to the “man village”. He reaches the “man cave” and has to make a decision to stay and leave all his forest friends behind. This movie was first released in 1967 and remade in 2016. The movie became a big hit and in the opening weekend, when the film made $103,261,464. It stars Neel Sethi as Mowgi, Bill Murry as Baloo and Idris Elba as Shere Khan.

~Beauty and the Beast

This movie is about a village girl who is the inventors daughter named Belle. On the way to an inventors convention, Belle’s father gets lost and ends up at an enchanted castle. He gets taken by the Beast and Belle trades his spot for her. The Beast ends up falling for Belle but has to set her free because her father was being taken away. Belle frees her father and saves the Beast from Gaston, a man who wants the beast dead. She turn the Beast back into a man when they kiss. Belle and the Beast live happily ever after. This classic Disney movie was made into a live action film in March of 2017. In the opening weekend, this movie made $174,750,616 and was ranked #1 in the polls. It stars Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast and Luke Evans as Gaston.

~Dumbo

Dumbo is about an elephant that was born with oversized ears and given the nickname Dumbo. He gets made fun of and taunted by all the other kid elephants. When Dumbo cause a severe accident that injures many other elephants, he is forced to dress as a clown and perform dangerous stunts. He later finds out his ears let him fly, which astonishes everyone with this new talent. The original movie was released in October of 1941 and the new version is planned to come out March of 2019. The live action film will not include voices for Dumbo or his mother but will include many actors that are in the circus with him.

~Mulan

Mulan is about a young girl who is pressured into living up to her families expectations. When she fails and her father gets requested to join the war, she takes his spot. While fighting, she defeats the greatest feared villain with the help of her animal friends, Mushu and Cri-Kee. When she returns home her family is finally proud of her and she finally feels like she belongs. The original film was released in June of 1998. The live action film was originally going to be released in November of 2018 but has been delayed until March of 2020. Disney has not released the reasons why the movie was delayed almost 2 years but many writers have come up with theories on why this happened. One author believed it was just to get the story and casting right but another believes that the movie is just not going well.

~Winnie the Pooh

Winnie the Pooh has become a well know Disney movie that has multiple spin-offs, such as Pooh’s Heffalump Movie. In these movies, Pooh is always with his friends going on different adventures. His friends are Christopher Robin, Tigger, Rabbit, Roo, Kanga, Eeyore and etc. The Original Winnie the Pooh came out in July of 2011 and the live action movie came out in August of 2018. This new movie featured Pooh coming to London and finding Christopher Robin.
