This Disney movie is about a rebellious mermaid named Ariel who is fascinated with life on land. On one of her visits to the surface, which are forbidden by her controlling father, King Triton, she falls in love with a human prince, named Eric. Determined to be with her new love, Ariel makes a dangerous deal with the sea witch Ursula to become a human for three days and if she could get the prince to kiss her, she would be human forever but Ursula took her voice. Ariel and Eric become close during the three days but never kiss because of Ursula. Ariel turns back into a mermaid and must return to sea. When King Triton notices Ariel longs to be with Eric, he makes the ultimate sacrifice and turns his daughter into a human. Ariel and Eric live happily ever after on land.

This is a Disney movie that should be watched by all because of the life lessons that are incorporated into the movie. One life lesson is you should go after your dreams, no matter how big the dream is. In the movie, Ariel dreams to be a human but she knows it is highly unlikely she will ever become one. She ends up becoming a human because her father could see how much she wanted it. Another life lesson in this movie is that your voice is your most important possession. In this film, Ariel has the most beautiful voice but in order to get what she wants, she has to give it up. Without it she felt lost and not like herself. Once she gets it back she realizes her voice is important. The last life lesson I found in the movie was that it’s ok to not want the same life as your parents. Ariel is the daughter of King Triton, ruler of the seas, and he wants her to grow up and become just like him although she had other plans. She wants to become a human and live on land because she has become interested with everything to do with the land. Once her father realizes that she will never be happy under the sea, he turns her into a human even though he wants her in the sea with him.
