Philadelphia is full of fun events for all ages every season. As fall comes to an end, it’s becoming time to find out about all the interesting winter events, whether its beer festivals, Thanksgiving events, Holiday Light shows, the City of Brotherly Love has it all.

Thanksgiving Day Parade

On November 23 Benjamin Franklin Parkway hosts America’s oldest Thanksgiving day parade that stretches for over 1.4 miles of the parkway. This year marks it’s 98th year and will host local bands, performers, marching bands, massive floats and much more. This event is free for all to attend, just make sure you get there early to get a good seat!

Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest

From November 24- March 4 historical Penn’s Landing will transform into a winter wonderland. The usual summer rollerblading spot will turn into a Olympic-sized skating rink that also includes a ski-lodge and a massive holiday tree. This event is fun for the whole family, you can visit the Kids Lodge, and the Lodge Restaurant and Bar which will even cater crab fries from Philly’s famous Chickie’s and Pete’s.

Macy’s Christmas Light Show at Macy’s Center City

From November 24- December 31, 2017 the Macy’s pf Center City Philadelphia located in the Wanamaker Building. This light show has over 100,000 lights that create holiday images, and of course holiday music. They even transform the entire third floor of Macy’s into Dicken’s Village, which is a reenactment of the Christmas classic, A Christmas Carol. Times of the show occur daily at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m., and is closed on Christmas day. For more information visit here.

New Year’s Day Mummers Parade

On January 1, 2018 starting at 9 a.m. from City Hall to Washington Avenue, the annual Mummers parade takes place. This parade has been a Philadelphia tradition since the year 1901. Over 10,000 men, women, and children dress in lavish, colorful costumes and stroll down the main streets of Philly. Mummers are people of all ages who belong to clubs and organizations that have been participating in this parade for generations. This only happens once a year, so don’t miss it! The Christmas Village at Love Park

From November 23- December 24, 2017 Philadelphia’s Love Park will transform into a European Winter Wonderland. This yearly event mimics old European style open markets with a holiday theme. More than 80 vendors will be at this year’s event, including sellers of jewelry, novelty goods, gifts, art and much more. There will also be a holiday themed carousel at this years event!
