I showed in my earlier article how I Made $28.86 in my first 4 days on Medium Partner Program. Not a huge amount by any means but it was enough for me to verify the fact that what I had to say was resonating with people who were genuinely interested in my content. Well, one week into it now, and I have great news: I doubled my earnings to a whopping $56.52 in total.

But the funds aren’t the only thing growing. Now, that my follower count has increased to 350 and I am getting actual exposure for my day-to-day efforts. In this post, I will effortlessly describe what worked for me, get rid of any phobia that you have around writing, and show you if I can do it then YOU CAN do it too.

Double the effort, double the reward.

Only four days in and I was already jumping up and down about making $28.86 on the Medium Partner Program, but as the week continued, my numbers got stronger — I ended up with a total of $56.52 for that week. How did I do it? Here’s what helped:

If you want to see real progress, increase your effort. Each article you publish adds to your visibility and chances of growing your readership and earnings.

Consistency builds momentum

If you wish to have real progress then higher the effort. Every article you write increases your exposure to thousands of potential readers and earnings.

Undoubtedly, Daily Writing is a tough way to go but the fastest way of growing on Medium. The best-performing article of mine, which earned $13.03 from 162 reads — “I Made $705 From AI Image Sales.” Persistence in my effort to build this article helped.

Beyond simply padding your article count, writing continuously will also help you improve. This is a great way of honing your voice and understanding what sticks with readers & which topics are more trendy to type about. And more importantly, it establishes your credibility.

Engagement is key: growing to 350 followers.

Within a week, my followers shot up from 270 to 350 and I attribute this to meaningful engagement. Here’s what worked:

  • Real comments: I left in-depth and meaningful responses to the writing of other writers. I used actual feedback or asked questions about a topic to create a conversation rather than the typical “great post! And in turn, more eyes on me and people engaging with my content.
  • Collaborating with writers of similar interest: I used to connect with many other creators in the same niche and many started following me back.
  • Better than Medium: Publishing my article beyond this site Posting in LinkedIn and Facebook groups for readers excited to learn discoveries, because they do not get posted as often elsewhere

It may take a while to build an audience, but it is worth doing. It can be done by actively interacting with others and sharing content other than Medium, your followers will increase as well as readers.

For fast growth, cross-promotion is key. So let others find your articles too — the readers are out there.

Small earnings can lead to bigger wins.

At the time, $28.86 in four days seemed like a huge achievement and now even writing this article — with one week of total earnings amounting to $56.52 — I realize how much that number can grow fast. Remember, any profit, no matter how humble, is a success.

That somebody read what you wrote and maybe, at the very least, appreciated it a bit. However, the longer you write and interact with your readers, the earnings will eventually grow. However, those small wins do add up at the end of it all — so do not underestimate them.

Tips for new writers on Medium

If you are new to Medium or considering signing up for the partner program, here are a few that I can give based on my limited experience.

  • Consistent writing: You should be churning out content reliably whether you do this once or twice a week. The more you publish, the more you have to get discovered by a reader.
  • Connect: Engage in commenting on other like-minded writers, and take the time to connect with your community. Engaging is key to being seen. The more you engage, the more you will be noticed.
  • Publish off Medium: Do not rely only on an inbuilt audience that you have with Medium. Publish them with Social Media This includes articles on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter that provide for a higher level of Donor Engagement. Because you never know who might become a regular reader.
  • Don’t be discouraged by small numbers: You may not make a lot at first but every little bit helps. Any article you write is a step closer to your impending consistent money.

My first week on the Medium Partner Program and made $56.52. While not huge numbers, they are encouraging statistics with lots of upside on future business I just can’t wait to see where this visit is going to come out, with 350 fans and a blossoming article portfolio.

One thing you have to know is that getting successful on Medium does not happen overnight. It’s just showing up, connecting with people and sharing. If you want to start your walk, then let it be a jump. So write, interact, and see what happens next….
