Why is Change Management critical to successful workspace transformations? It’s about people, place, and purpose.
In today’s evolving business landscape, workplace transformations involve more than just moving furniture and renovating spaces. They involve reimagining how people work, collaborate, and engage with their environment. Through my experience leading multi-million dollar renovation and relocation initiatives, I’ve discovered that the secret to success lies in the seamless partnership between people managers, change management and program management.
The Personal Nature of Workplace Change
During one of our transformation projects, a long-tenured employee approached me with evident concern: “I’ve sat at the same desk for 15 years. Every family photo, every award I’ve earned — they tell the story of my career.
How can I maintain that connection in an open floor plan?”
My response resonated with her and countless others: “Space is deeply personal. It’s not just about where we work — it’s about who we are at work. Our goal isn’t to erase those stories, but to create new ways to tell them in a space that evolves with how we work today.”
