These words were spoken by Dr. Ervin Laszlo at the international online conference “Global Crisis. This already affects everyone” on July 24, 2021. This conference, important for all mankind, was held on the platform of ALLATRA IPM and was broadcast on thousands of Internet platforms in 180 countries worldwide with simultaneous interpretation in 72 languages.
Dr. Ervin Laszlo is a professor, PhD, world-renowned scientist, philosopher, integral theorist, writer, pianist, Founder and President of The Laszlo Institute of New Paradigm Research.
Dr. Ervin Laszlo is a member of numerous scientific organizations, including the International academy of sciences, the World Academy of arts and sciences, the International Academy of philosophy of science, and the Hungarian Academy of sciences.
He was nominated twice for the Nobel Peace Prize: in 2004 and 2005. He is also the recipient of the 2017 Luxembourg Peace Prize.
He has been awarded the Japan Peace Prize and is an honorary doctor of several universities in America, Canada, Finland, Korea and Japan. In his speech at the conference he said that at present time we have an unstable and unbalanced system that we created by ourselves, which will inevitably lead to self-destruction.
The consumerist world in which we exist now disrupts the “balance of the system where we live. Being selfish and usually power-and wealth-oriented, we use everything for short-term gain. Those who have power use it to get even more power. Those who have money use it to get even more money.” We humans are destroying the planet as cancer cells destroy the human body.
Dr. Ervin made an interesting comparison of our common home planet Earth with a boat that currently is in danger because of consumerism.
“We are all in the same boat. And that boat, using that metaphor, is leaking. We put more and more people in it, and are using more and more resources. We pollute the water around it. And we are driving the boat into deeper and more dangerous waters.”
In this regard, Dr. Laszlo said that there are two scenarios for the development of events: “the good scenario and the bad scenario”. Under the bad scenario humanity will go down toward a growing crisis. The good scenario is “to change direction in a timely and positive way,” to see the world differently. He believes that it is important and necessary for us to change our entire worldview and our entire paradigm.
Informing and bringing the truth about the real critical stage of the planet and human society plays a very important role here. “We can’t stay the way we are. If we want to move forward we must know how to do it and to be the conscious acting force behind that movement. So information leading to awareness is really the most valuable thing. It’s the key.”
It is notable that the well-known and respected Dr. Ervin Laszlo as a human being is happy that people are awakening, “thinking sensibly” and raising such important topics at conferences like this one. Many people are already following this path.
He believes that when a critical mass of people shows their good will, society will change. Then all resources and vital elements that we need will be available to all people.
We can build the Creative Society in this world and be “a healthy impulse and motivation for the evolution of life.”
It all depends on people’s choices. Every person’s choice. There are almost 8 billion of us on the planet! What scenario will be chosen by humanity?
