Poor Grass

The grass at our DeSoto, Texas rental is anything but luxurious. It is hard, crunchy, dry, and filled with weeds. It is not somewhere you would want to lie and take a nap. But the problem lies not in the grass itself, actually. The problem lies in what is under the grass. In this part of the city, the ground is full of limestone. It is hard, rocky, and claylike. Without proper preparation and treatment, the ground is not suited to growing a soft, healthy grass. No matter how much treatment or chemicals are applied to the top of the grass, if the ground is not sufficiently prepared with added soils, the grass cannot turn out good. I see a lot of application to the Savior. Christ is our foundation, He is our ground, He is the ground in which we are to plant. If we plant ourselves anywhere else besides in the Savior and His gospel, then no matter what good things we might try to do on the surface, there will be no depth of testimony, no real conversion, no real spiritual growth and heath. But if we will work Christ into our foundation, taking His atonement as our foundation and building on Him, then we will grow into healthy, strong, beautiful spiritual beings, ready and prepared for His Second Coming. And no matter the storms or obstacles that will come, we will be okay!
