Why ecosystems are needed

Ecosystems are technological communities, within which devices, services, and applications complement each other and link information into a common system. This means that the development is carried out not only by the monopolist-producer but by different cooperating companies, so that each user would be more comfortable living in the digital world.

Just 15 years ago, the computer and smartphone were not connected with each other, except for a direct connection for transferring files. Now each of us has more than one gadget, and often more than two, even four, and so on. Just imagine that because of such innovations you have to remember where all your files are to keep working. At one thought it would be desirable to drink some restful.

We got used to closing the file on a work computer and open it in an hour in the cafe on the tablet, and then one more time to look at the phone on the way home or share with another user. Our requests satisfy a huge number of programs for any gadget, created by different developers. All devices, regardless of their price and model, communicate with each other, and the notifications come to all of them. Full synchronization helps to save data even if one of the devices fails. All this is due to the development of ecosystems.

Ecosystems are beneficial to the business, as they help satisfy the needs of customers, thereby increasing their loyalty. We want everything at once. And preferably quickly. Therefore, platforms that do not allow third-party developers to cooperate with their products have become irrelevant. Such platforms are clumsy and simply can not stand the competition. Even conservative Microsoft, following Apple and Google, builds its ecosystems and integrates products in the App Store and Google Market. Users go to the digital shopping, like to the megamall, carrying out all requests for work, education or entertainment.

There is a convenient and fast interaction between production, technology, sellers, and buyers. But not only digital empires build ecosystems, but also social networks that have ceased to be just websites for sending messages, video or photos. New opportunities have appeared: built-in instant messengers with video communication, online games, marketplaces and numerous thematic communities, making their own webinars and conferences. Almost all well-known social networks have become ecosystems.

Soon we will talk about the ecosystem structures of Amazon, Apple, Google, Tesla, Facebook, and Telegram.
