From the early days of Myspace & AOL Chatrooms up through innovative social media platforms like all.me, social media continues to be a force of nature. It has changed the way we communicate, gather, advertise and even how we share our experiences and showcase our personalities to the world. Whereas the majority of Internet users view social media platforms as a source of entertainment, a niche of forward-thinking folks have long since seen its potential and begun to leverage it as a source of income.

The most hotly debated question today seems to be: Is being a social media influencer really a job? Our answer is YES! Bloggers, vloggers, social media influencers have monetized content creation and it’s proving to be more and more lucrative! Let’s understand why:

  • Surveys indicate that 70% of millennial consumers value the recommendations of their peers in when making purchasing decisions.
  • In fact, 30% of consumers are more likely to purchase something recommended by a blogger who is not a celebrity. This is because the majority of users identify with these influencers more.
  • Once customers get offline and into a store, it has been recorded that 60% of their purchases or store visits are influenced by a social media post or blog review.

Needless to say, brands and companies have swiftly begun to divert their advertising budget to those users who have a large number of followers. Enter the Social. Media. Influencers. The number of success stories in this ‘alternative career’ is also on the rise. Just look at the 2018 Top Ten:

8. Zoella — 38.6 Million Followers Total

9. Lele Pons — 37 Million Followers Total

Becoming an influencer is most definitely about creating quality content that appeals to as many people as possible (i.e. that has the potential to ‘go viral’). However, there is an argument that many social media influencers rose up the ranks of Internet stardom because they joined a given social media platform (e.g. Facebook, YouTube, Instagram) at the right time. We define the right time as the period when communities within the platform are actively forming and the number of users is steadily inclining.

That’s why all.me is the place to be for the next wave of social media influencers. But hey, we’re only the first digital network that seamlessly joins social media and earning in the fairest way possible… Don’t take our word for it. Try it yourself and see!
