When we set out to build Alloy we were driven by our commitment to improve data access for the progressive political ecosystem — in speed, quality, and cost. We sought to build a system that would get stronger as more people used it, to make a difference in 2020 that would close the data gap we all witnessed in 2016, and to build the foundations of better technology for future cycles. We are so proud to have been able to do all of those things, and especially because we did it in support of partners who made such a tremendous difference in this election.

  • As we reached Election Day, our partners had run nearly 23 million voter registration status checks through our Verify API. Since Election Day, our partners have run hundreds of thousands more checks as they’ve worked to protect the rights of voters in states where legal challenges threaten the rights of countless voters.
  • We’re proud to have built the largest unregistered potential voter dataset in the ecosystem, which with more than 120 million contacts enabled our partners to adapt their voter registration efforts, especially as our entire country moved into uncharted territory through the coronavirus pandemic.
  • We significantly expanded contact information and other data for 193 million registered voters in all 50 states and the District of Columbia through Alloy Source. Our partners were able to leverage tens of millions of new contact details to reach voters in the battleground states that helped define this election.
  • Our Protect reports on changes in voter registration files in key states also alleviated the strain on election protection groups, who could focus on deep analysis as opposed to gathering, normalizing, and comparing registration files throughout the final months of this election cycle.
  • And the entity resolution and machine learning technology developed by our data scientists at Alloy has improved the ability of the ecosystem to append and match data for lists of registered voters in universes key to mobilizing the electorate, including critical contact data appends for partners in the final hours of GOTV.

And our tools continue to be used post-Election Day as our partners work to protect those whose votes may be at risk, and mobilize voters for critical runoffs ahead.

Among some 60 partners we’ve served this cycle are state democratic parties, non-partisan voter registration groups, national campaign management platforms, digital organizing tool providers, and voter protection researchers. We look forward to continuing the work of strengthening our tools and providing data to our entire ecosystem for the fights ahead. As we saw over the last four years — even when we win — protecting those wins and strengthening our democracy does not end with any single election.

We are proud of our partners who did incredible work, and left it all on the field. Thank you for your trust, for your commitment to the ideals at the heart of our country, and for all you continue to do.

In solidarity,
