My Entire Investment Portfolio is in One ETF
And That’s the Way I Like It
This isn’t investment advice. Always do your own research before investing.
Introduction
I was inspired to write this article after reading ’s The Investments I Like And Why I Like Them.
It made me realize that financial writers should be transparent about their investments. If you’re telling people which stocks (or houses or ETFs or mutual funds) to purchase, then you had better have purchased those assets yourself.
Since contributing to Alpha Beta Blog, I’ve written two articles on the benefits of index funds over actively managed funds. Not only that, but also, most of my responses to financial articles espouse the supremacy of index funds (to the annoyance of my favourite authors, I’m sure).
Skeptics who wonder if I follow through with my (sometimes incoherent) ramblings on index investing will be happy to know that my entire investment portfolio is in one index ETF:
iShares Core Equity ETF Portfolio (XEQT)
While most ETFs invest in stocks and bonds, XEQT invests in other ETFs. In other words, it’s a fund of funds.
