Why Is Life So Expensive?

It’s not in your head

The preeminent economist of the Great Depression period, John Maynard Keynes, predicted in 1930 that technological progress and economic growth would likely result in a world where within the next 100 years all of our necessities would cost a minimal amount, and people would only need to work fifteen hours a week to pay for them. It doesn’t feel like this is anywhere close to happening. Why was Keynes so far off?
