Roadshow events took place in Ho Chi Minh City at Start Coworking Campus (Aug 8), Pullman Saigon Center (Aug 9), and Fulbright University Vietnam (Aug 10). The admission to the one-day events was free and accompanied by “networking nights”, which included complimentary food and beverages.

What makes this Roadshow unique is that Carry is a blockchain application for the offline world. Carry, a platform that connects offline merchants and consumers using blockchain technology, aims to make personal data fair for consumers, marketers, and merchants. We want to offer Carry a unique opportunity to interact directly with startups, developers, individual investors, and the student community to help shine a spotlight on the project.

These events were a great chance for Alpha Blockchain to bring Grant Sohn (US-Korea) — Co-CEO of Carry Protocol — from Seoul to Ho Chi Minh City. Grant, CEO and co-founder of Spoqa, a rewards platform utilized by 10,000 merchants in Korea and serves over 14 million users, was able to offer advice on creating strong interactions with offline customers and strategies on how to manage their data from offline shopping.

Start Coworking Campus (Aug 8) — a popular tech community hub and co-working space — was the first Roadshow stop. Carry Protocol was presented at the Bites and Byte session — August Meetup.

Grant described that brick-and-mortar retailers still account for 90% of all sales and that it was a whopping 25 trillion dollar industry. Carry Protocol designed their new CRE blockchain token to operate as an incentive that drives consumers to Carry merchant stores. The whole process was embedded for enabling consumers, merchants, and advertisers to ensure seamless integration. This was particularly helpful in addressing the changing views and attitudes that startups have on building protocols and applications using blockchain.

The second stop of the roadshow was at the Pullman Saigon Center. The Blockchain Networking Night had around 25-30 attendees and was organized right after the OKExGlobal Meetup Tour 2018 Vietnam. We thought this was a good chance to have an informal dinner with the keys speakers and investors in digital asset trading platforms. This would make the networking fun and worthwhile — with complimentary food and beer, people could mingle while enjoying the view of the city from the 30th floor.

The third day of the event centered around Fulbright Vietnam University (FUV), a newly established university inspired by liberal education and commitment to innovation in Vietnam. The university emphasized recruiting students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.

The event was more interactive and had compelling stories to tell about why South Korea could become the perfect infrastructure for blockchain technology. Grant Sohn had a number of great conversations with students and lecturers in FUV. The talk highlighted that blockchain could be applied in a very simple concept. With Carry, customers would have the authority and power to share and monetize their own data.

The roadshow with Carry Protocol helped us forge partnerships and provide connection services with the best and brightest of emerging companies from local and worldwide communities. Blockchain technology and applications can be deployed to maximize building efficiency, reduce operating costs, increase data safety, and enhance the power of users.

In closing, here are some interesting numbers and takeaways from the Empowering Consumers with Blockchain Roadshow:

  • 10 days of preparation
  • 3 different levels of target audience: students & lecturers (university level), developers & startup (tech level) , investor & traders (business level)
  • 469 Facebook live stream views, 150 on-site participants
