A different Discord server report
Alpha as a whole has had many challenges to overcome in 2021. With a strong 2020 ending this put Alpha in a great position for future expansion, however this proved to be more difficult as many people reduced their time spent on discord in order to keep up with life as for many of us it was returning to a form of normal. Despite growth declining, moderation was challenged greatly.
Members
Whilst we do constantly have members joining each day this is showing that the Alpha is getting new visitors that may stay. Over the last 6 months a very clear pattern has been noticed in regards to joins.
Since February our joins have decreased dramatically in comparison to December when joins were at its peak. We believe that this was caused by breaks in daily life allowing for more time on social media. Another factor is due to in server events. We knew that we could capitalize on this by running events however gaining members temporarily (Only there for the event) in the long run doesn't bring any new members, you end up loosing them later down the track. Whilst that method is effective it doesn't secure members like natural growth.
Another major challenge that Alpha as a whole has been going through is joins and leaves. 72% of members join then leave within the first 5 Minutes of joining the sever. Whilst this figure may be concerning it’s normal. Other servers our size also battle this issue. Some common reasons why this happen is once of the following new users checking the server out, users joining the wrong server, users returning after leaving. They are a few of the reasons.
Chat Activity
Chat in Alpha has been mostly unaffected. Whilst chat does vary from day to day we still get on average 1.1k messages per week (This data includes all channels in the server including role only channels) While this is may not seem like a lot it is considering its from 225 Members+.
Moderation
As stated earlier our moderation systems have been challenged greatly. Over the past 6 months we have added 3 new server staff members to our team. Our team consists of:

Our moderators some of the finest and they do an outstanding job, there is nothing better then this group. Although we have been challenged at times we have all managed to get through it.
As this report comes to an end, its worth noting that we are one of the first severs to publicly speak about these issues and how we’ve addressed them, whilst this data is good for severs with similar sizes it also shows what us server owners are going through and how challenging it can be.
