What is CBD?

CBD (cannabidiol) is one of many cannabinoids or molecules found in the cannabis family plants. This is a safe, non-addictive substance that endows marijuana and hemp with its robust therapeutic profiles. CBD is closely related to THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), another active phytocannabinoid that made marijuana famous for the “high” effect it produces on the nervous system.

After you’ve tried the sample kit — you’ll be sure to get something from their range.

Why has it exploded onto the health and wellness market?

CBD may seem like another hype-generating notion. However, there is evidence that CBD is a good supplement for the management of various health conditions. Scientists have been conducting rigorous studies on cannabinoids and acknowledge CBD as an addition or even an alternative to traditional medicines. For example, Therapeutics and Clinical Risk Management journal has published several studies that demonstrate CBD potential in anxiety and stress control, as well as pain relief.

The positive CBD effect on health manifests itself via the influence on the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). It was initially considered to be present only in the brain and nerves. Yet, in 2008, the scientists from the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, Indiana University, Bloomington discovered cannabinoid receptors throughout the body, including skin, fat tissue, our immune cells, bone, liver, pancreas, heart, skeletal muscle, blood vessels, kidneys, and gastrointestinal tract.

The ECS creates homeostasis within the body and manages a wide range of processes, including pain, mood, appetite, memory, stress, metabolism, sleep, immune and reproductive functions.

Any dysfunctions in the ECS lead to a range of disorders — for example, anxiety, stress, arthritis, inflammation, nausea, epilepsy, and even cancer. CBD, THC and other cannabinoids, are chemically similar to your body’s own ECS, which allows them to repair the damage.
