A major milestone was achieved last week with the launch of $SLN token as the native utility and governance token for the Smart Layer ecosystem, inclusive of Smart Layer Launchpad and Smart Layer Network.
The $SLN token will secure and fuel the Smart Layer Network and Smart Layer Launchpad.

Smart Layer’s long term mission is to deliver a new token infrastructure layer that transforms utility and liquidity for every token on the planet.
Our long term addressable market is every token. Fungible or non-fungible. Gaming to DeFi. Tokens that exist today. And new tokens under development. Innovative new token protocols like ERC404. And tokenized Real World Assets from automobiles to airline tickets.
The 3 year business roadmap sets us up for our long term mission. Over the next 3 years, Smart Layer will become firmly established as a critical infrastructure layer for token utility and liquidity.
Starting with all EVM compatible chains, we will ultimately support every major blockchain ecosystem and tens of millions of users.
By the end of 2026, token front-ends will be accessible across tens of millions of tokens and Mainnet will be handling over a billion requests annually.
Smart Layer will be perfectly positioned to support every token on the planet with advanced utility and liquidity based on advanced off-chain function and logic.

Smart Layer: Technology Roadmap to Date
2019 > TokenScript delivers a new standard in tokenization with executable tokens.
The TokenScript design paper introduces Executable Tokens. Similar to ERC-20 or ERC-721 but with extendable structure & signed Javascript to realize rich functions and full composability that DApps struggle to implement.
2022 / 23 > Executable tokens are introduced to EVM via EIP5169.
EIP-5169 adopted as a new Ethereum Standard becoming ERC-5169 enabling the creation of Executable Tokens and NFTs. Smart Layer created this standard and immediately delivered use cases at scale in loyalty and events with sports and brands. Our Smart Cats xNFT project became the #1 game and DApp on Polygon by volume with over 24m on-chain transactions.
2024 > Smart Layer Launchpad Beta
The Launchpad serves as a key component of the Smart Layer ecosystem. It is a central hub for developers and end users to create, explore and distribute executable Tokens and NFTs. BETA phase is invite only. By early February 2024, over 3.2M executable tokens from 3 projects were delivered to end users via Launchpad.
2024 > Smart Layer Network Testnet
The Smart Layer Network will deliver a new wave of digital asset value creation on EVM. It is a decentralized services network that supports all EVM chains in managing off-chain token logic that achieves greatly improved token utility and liquidity. By early February 2024, Testnet is hosting over 3.2m executable tokens which are accessed by over 1M unique active wallets. It is managing up to 20m requests each month.
Smart Layer: 3 Year Business Roadmap
Smart Layer is an ecosystem fueled by the $SLN token.
The $SLN token captures all value across that ecosystem. All usage of the Smart Layer Network and Launchpad will involve transacting with $SLN and all fees will be paid in $SLN.
As an infrastructure business similar in structure (and ultimately in scale) to Chainlink, Smart Layer will in time become a decentralized services network that supports every token on every chain.
Developers and projects will use Smart Layer Network to manage advanced token functions and logic off-chain with $SLN. They will pay to create token front ends and launch new smart token projects through the Smart Layer Launchpad.
The roadmap to building a business at a scale comparable to other major web3 infrastructure players will involve 3 phases over the next 3 years :
2024 > Market Fit for LaunchPad and Testnet
In the past 6 months, Smart Layer has delivered large scale, in market proof of concepts for its underlying value proposition and technology. Through Smart Cats, Cat Loot, Smart Pass and Improvements to ERC-404 we have validated that ERC-5169 + TokenScript + LaunchPad + Testnet can deliver transformative token utility and liquidity. We have laid a foundation for future ecosystem growth via : Smart Layer wallet integrations with Joy.ID, TokenPocket, Math Wallet, OKX Web3 Wallet & platform partnerships / integrations with OpenSea, Magic Eden & Polygon.

In 2025, Smart Layer will move to a first phase of scaling based on verticals where most value has been proven through 2024. Gaming and DeFi are two verticals with high potential based on results to date, but the areas of focus will be finalized closer to years end. In 2025, Smart Layer will more aggressively seek out new partnerships and growth. Ecosystem growth will be aligned with a vertical expansion strategy and scalable integrations with wallet providers and marketplaces. Target is to double LaunchPad and Network traffic from 2024.
