There seems to be a never ending supply of new Play-to-Earn (P2E) games hitting the market right now. How do you cut through all the noise to determine the best P2E games to play, follow and potentially invest in? Here’s the list of games coming soon along with the most popular games being played today.

With production budgets and earnings surpassing Hollywood’s largest blockbuster movies, everyone is looking for the next decentralized Mindcraft, Fortnight, Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto. Traditionally, playing high quality games, whether on your gaming console, PC or mobile device costs you money. The script is now changing with a gaming community focused on decentralization and rewards for the most loyal and best players.

  1. Axie Infinity

Axie Infinity has been the darling play-to-earn NFT game of 2021. The game allows users to build a kingdom in a mythical place known as Lunacia, where magical creatures abound. Axie Infinity characters are created helping you to advance further into the game, unlocking further adventures.

Players can buy various NFT’s to enhance their gameplay. Accomplishments and time spent playing result in the earning of the AXS and SLP token that can now be found traded on several crypto exchanges.

2. Rise of the Defenders

Rise of the Defenders is perhaps one of the new P2E games to make its entrance into the space as a mashup of anime meets Call-of-Duty. The gameplay is supposed to be more like standard Tower Defense games like Kingdom Rush or Dungeon Defenders. The goal is to organize and upgrade your characters and their base all while defending it from attacking monsters. Players will have the opportunity to fight NPCs (non-playable characters/computers) in campaign mode or compete against real-world players through either Arena or Tournament modes.

Participants in the Rise of the Defenders metaverse collect and trade NFTs based on rare heroes (characters), mythical equipment, and reinforced items. They can also play-to-earn the platform’s two native tokens, RDG and RDR.

3. Space Falcon

There is a lot of excitement around Space Falcon and its Web3GL Play-to-Earn Intergalactic Metaverse game. There are 135,000 people following the Space Falcon Twitter handle at time of writing this article. Space Falcon is a game that is played on any updated web browser; the newest Safari, Chrome and Edge browsers are all powerful enough to present Hollywood worthy graphics. The game blends two journeys; 80’s retro gameplay — think an upgraded version of Space Invaders and a 2080 futuristic galactic exploration adventure. The Retro component is a Classic Space Shooter Game whereas the futuristic metaverse revolves around building an empire by completing levels and collecting Sci-Fi NFTs, while gliding through various galaxies.

FCON and FGOLD tokens are the reward for participating in-game and staking. FCON is earned by exploring galaxies, building settlements, colonizing galaxies, planets & other extraterrestrial assets, trading intergalactic assets within an In-game marketplace, selling your NFT merchandise and lastly, Interacting and making friends within a virtual setting. FGOLD acts as in-game currency in order to purchase NFTs and activate elements within the Space Falcon metaverse which can only be earned by staking your FCON. Certain functions of the game can only happen with FGOLD, so staking FCON is highly encouraged.

4. Star Atlas

Star Atlas is a popular futuristic P2E massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) built on Solana. The coolest part about Star Atlas is that players can trade, obtain, and create non-fungible tokens (NFTs) within the Star Atlas universe. Players are incentivized to explore, mine, create and acquire assets and accomplishments. Players can command their own spaceship and crew while traveling through the Star Atlas metaverse in search of hidden wealth and valuable surprises that can be staked or mined.

Star Atlas (ATLAS) token is the native token. ATLAS can be traded on multiple crypto exchanges being generated through in-game mining, market-making and trade, Player vs Environment (PVE) missions, as well as resource gathering. It also serves as the main currency within the Star Atlas NFT marketplace. POLIS is their governance token. Holders can contribute to the decision-making around game development and can help to create rules with which other players must observe.

5. Sin City

Like Grand Theft Auto and other open-world role-playing games, Sin City will have an ongoing “native game” that can be thought of as their version of a “Story Mode”. They plan to have their native game “laced with violence and gore” and the primary goal for gamers will be to conquer and control the entire Sin City metaverse. Sin City plans to have a central virtual casino located in their digitized version of Las Vegas. This will be built on “the Matic layer” allowing fast-paced transactions to occur without any gas fees.

The Sin City casino will be built and owned by the Vanilla Network and will use the VNLA token as its playable currency. The actual native game token, SIN, will initially be used for all other transactions throughout the Sin City metaverse, including land deals, development, and other forms of interactive gameplay.

Regardless if all of these games hit it out of the park, we are seeing a paradigm shift in the way games get invested into, developed, played and coming of age over time. We will likely see more large game developers adopt these tactics in part or go all in with a more decentralized approach to future game development.
