Overview: Explanations and demonstrations of Giant Slalom, Slalom, Dual Slalom, Super G and Downhill are included in this Learning Module.

Giant Slalom

Giant Slalom courses have panelled gates with some combinations including delay gates as explained in this video.

Slalom

Slalom courses are comprised of Open gates and a combination of Closed Gates including Hair Pins, Flushes, Royal Flushes and Delayed Gates as described in the following video.

Dual Slalom

Dual Slalom involves short arcing turns around panelled gates. Slalom skis and forearm guards are used. There are two courses set side by side; red and blue.

Super G

Super G is faster than Giant Slalom and has a series of fast rhythmical turns. Watch Jack Crawford of Canada win the Super G at the 2023 World Championships.
